The continuing population boom in the Middle East is causing a sharp increase in water demand. Coupled with the arid conditions of one of the world’s most water-stressed regions, meeting future demand presents more and more challenges.
WaterTech 2010, a third annual event, will address key water resource and water demand management issues in the Middle East, including an in-depth look at wastewater treatment and reuse which is now a key priority for regional governments. This third annual gathering will bring together experts from water authorities, municipalities, regulators and industry to discuss solutions to critical water and wastewater problems.
The vital importance of reusing wastewater in the region was addressed in the opening speech at Wastewater Tech 2009 by Eng. Abdullah Rashid Al Moalla, Executive Director for Water Resources and Nature Conservation, Ministry of Environment & Water, UAE, on behalf of H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water.
